Host file changer (HFC) is a free tool to change the host file in windows. This is very helpful when your testing a lot of product interaction pages in different environments but the same URL. Software testers in the web world would know better. They would need to frequently change the host files to test different product interaction pages. The instructions for setting up the utility are very easy and are given below:
How to use this utility.
1) All the files you need to use should be stored in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
2) Suppose you need to use the following host file setting very regularly.
First setting:
127.0.0.1 www.youtube.com
Second setting:
127.09.09.199 www.youtube.com
3) Save the first setting as 1.txt, and the second setting as 2.txt in the c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc folder.
4) Now start the host file changer utility, and click on button 1 for the first setting and 2 for the second setting.
5) Once you have clicked the host files automatically keeps changing on the button type you clicked.
6) You also have the option of setting upto 20 different text files according to your choice.
